ABOUT
Fung Collaboratives is an arts organization without boundaries. Through the development of curatorial, commercial, and educational events under a single organizational umbrella, Fung Collaboratives fosters the collaboration of both emerging and established artists in intimate and ambitious projects with domestic and international settings. Fung Collaboratives has commissioned and presented ambitious temporary and permanent public art exhibitions around the world with great acclaim. We believe the artist’s voice is at the core of each project to result in relevant, thought-provoking, and beautiful artwork that the general public and the Art World can equally appreciate and experience.
ABOUT
Fung Collaboratives is committed to fostering, cultivating and preserving a culture of diversity, equity and inclusion.
As a minority owned small business, our human capital is the most valuable asset we have. By being people of color and also from the LGBTQ community, we recognize the hardship and imbalance in the wider workplace. The collective sum of the individual differences, life experiences, knowledge, inventiveness, innovation, self-expression, unique capabilities and talent that our employees invest in their work represents a significant part of not only our culture, but our reputation and company’s achievement as well.
As an arts organization, we seek out artists who use their voice and backgrounds to explore and share their realities and goals. We embrace and encourage our artists, volunteers, interns, and employees’ differences in age, color, disability, ethnicity, family or marital status, gender identity or expression, language, national origin, physical and mental ability, political affiliation, race, religion, sexual orientation, socio-economic status, veteran status, and other characteristics that make our employees unique.
Fung Collaboratives diversity initiatives are applicable—but not limited—to our practices and policies on recruitment and selection; compensation and benefits; professional development and training; promotions; transfers; social and recreational programs; layoffs; terminations; and the ongoing development of a work environment built on the premise of gender and diversity equity that encourages and enforces:
- Respectful communication and cooperation between all employees.
- Teamwork and employee participation, permitting the representation of all groups and employee perspectives.
- Work/life balance through flexible work schedules to accommodate employees’ varying needs.
- Employer and employee contributions to the communities we serve to promote a greater understanding and respect for the diversity.
All employees and partners of Fung Collaboratives have a responsibility to treat others with dignity and respect at all times. All are expected to exhibit conduct that reflects inclusion during work, at work functions on or off the work site, and at all other company-sponsored and participative events.

History
Founded by Lance Fung in 1999, the mission of Fung Collaboratives has always been to explore and develop the most interesting conversations through the art & culture. Initially formed in conjunction with Lance Fung’s curatorial efforts on behalf of his New York City gallery, Fung Collaboratives has since expanded in scope and vision, committing itself to curating intellectually rigorous and visually stimulating exhibitions that are also accessible to a mainstream audience.
All too often, the Art World is perceived as elitist, insulated, and closed off from the wider viewing public; Fung Collaboratives intends to shift this general impression of the Art World to one of transparency and openness. In past exhibitions, such as “The Snow Show”, both art professionals and members of the general public have responded strongly to the artworks allowing a very interesting discourse to evolve between all interested parties.
This unique focus on collaborative experiences frees Fung Collaboratives to challenge the participants, the viewers, and its own expectations and assumptions. Fung Collaboratives works closely with galleries, museums, cities, curators, critics, universities, and patrons from around the world, and plans to channel their efforts into unique projects and exhibitions at exciting and diverse venues, reaching an audience that ranges from the most sophisticated art follower to the complete novice.
As a minority owned business and members of the LGBTQ community, Fung Collaboratives is committed to fostering, cultivating and preserving a culture of diversity, equity and inclusion.

LANCE M. FUNG
Lance Fung is the chief curator for Fung Collaboratives, an arts organization that conceives and realizes contemporary art exhibitions around the world.
Lance curated "Constellations: Global Reflections," the first exhibition for a G20 and B20 summit, in Bali, 2022. Twenty visionary artists, each representing a G20 member state, created new site-specific artwork in the form of giant, rotating lanterns. Artists Yinka Shonibare, Minerva Cuevas, Xu Bing, Kimsooja, and Thomas Ruff led the narrative about environmental and social crises including gender equity, colonialism, and disparity between nations.
"The Snow Show" as one of Lance’s most notable endeavors. First realized in Lapland in 2003 & 2004, he later created the third iteration in 2006 for the 20th Winter Olympics in Torino, Italy. Over the series, Lance commissioned twenty teams of artists and architects to realize ephemeral site specific works made primarily from snow and ice as an investigation of the boundaries between art and architecture practices. Norman Foster, Williams & Tsein, Tadao Ando, Yoko Ono, Ernesto Neto, and Rachel Whiteread are only a few of the creatives that were engaged.
In 2008, Lance was selected as the seventh SITE Santa Fe International Biennial curator resulting in "Lucky Number Seven," a massive exhibition of twenty-five emerging artists that expanded to all the cultural institutions in Santa Fe included the famed Opera House.
Lance realized his concept for "Illuminate Coral Gables," a public art exhibition to be viewed in the daytime and through light and technology a different viewer experience was provided after dark. This exhibition planning began prior to the pandemic but Lance continued to work with the sixteen artists and fabricators and opened the outdoor exhibition during the pandemic in February & March, 2021. With health experts, the exhibition provided a safe and enjoyable activity for the 70,000 visitors that came to see the exhibition in person by foot or car. A diverse group of artists participated by making new site-specific commissions such as Kiki Smith’s "Blue Sky."
This opportunity allowed for the return of Cai Guo-Qiang’s "Fireflies" that Lance first curated in 2017 as the centennial celebration for the Benjamin Franklin Parkway. Lance also transformed vacant lots in Atlantic City into a much-needed park system through his exhibition "Artlantic". These “giant living sculptures” attracted local residents and visiting art enthusiasts to experience art in “green” settings designed by Fung and the participants Diana Balmori, Robert Barry, Peter Hutchinson, Ilya & Emilia Kabakov, Kiki Smith, etc.
He has created other important exhibitions such as "Revisiting Gordon Matta-Clark" at Next: The Venice Architectural Biennale in Venice, Italy; "The Snow Show: Venice" at the 50th International Art Exhibition/La Biennale di Venezia; "The Ship of Tolerance" by Ilya and Emilia Kabakov, in Siwa, Egypt and "Dreams and Conflicts–The Viewer’s Dictatorship," in Venice, Italy; "Crossing Parallels" at the SSamzi Space in Seoul, Korea and "Going Home" at the Edward Hopper Historical Museum in Nyack, New York; "Wonderland" in San Francisco’s Tenderloin district; and "Nonuments", as part of Washington DC’s 5 x 5 curatorial initiative.

JOHN R. TALLEY
John Talley joined Fung Collaboratives in 2010 to assume the role of Executive Director. In 2015 Talley founded FC Projects, the not for profit arm of Fung Collaboratives. Over the past twelve years John developed many new contacts with city officials, corporate sponsors, and local residents on behalf of both organizations and as harnessed energy and support from previous supporters.
His first major endeavor was realizing "Artlantic" in 2012 – 2015. The initiative was to create a new park system for Atlantic City, NJ that was envision by and included artwork by leading artists. Several artworks were particularly challenging such as "Devil’s Rage" by Ilya & Emilia Kabakov. This life sized, partially sunken pirate ship was designed as a recent discovery. It was meant to be interactive to the public and after the first day was known as the “playground” by the locals. Robert Barry and Peter Hutchinson created their largest commissions to date.
Talley worked closely with Noemie La Faurie, partner at Balmori Associates who developed the landscape design. Set in the middle of the 7.5-acre park was a designed garden by Kiki Smith of which every living thing encompassed the color red. Shrubs, plants and trees were selected with foliage, flowers and berries in mind. John found the work exhilarating because he was able to work and advise the participating artists as well as hire and inspire the various contractors and trade groups. He gained the support of the local painter’s union who volunteered to paint, as a training program for their apprentices, John Roloff’s complicated mural installation. This kind of elliptical thinking not only maximizes the limited resources dedicated for a public art project but more importantly allows additional local involvement and participation.
John has overseen all of the exhibition initiatives from the company including most recently "Constellations: Global Reflections," the first exhibition for a G20 or B20 summit.
Before joining Fung Collaboratives full time, he honed his administrative skills as the superintendent of a leading residential developer in the Bay Area for over 35 years. He happily retired from the building trade and is excited to be working on the periphery of the Art World. “My role at FC takes me away from the construction world and allows me to use my knowledge in an advisory role and as brainstormer and problem solver. It is wonderful when an artist comes to me and asks me how to build their project and I am able to help realize their dream.”
As an avid photographer, John was on the Board of Directors for the Center for Photographic Art in Carmel, Calif. This organization has strong roots in photography as they still operate in the space where Ansel Adams and Brett Weston founded the organization. John is also the official photographer for Fung Collaboratives.
John also is a skilled furniture designer and builder. He works with wood in a functional yet sculptural manner and is never more satisfied when witnessing people use and appreciate his hand made designs.

NEAL RAGHANI
Neal Raghani is a Bay Area artist who works in video art, painting, sculpture, and digital art. Raghani’s works highlight his formative and current years with autism, incorporating various inspirations from child development, special education, and art therapy practices.
Raghani also draws influence on children’s books about early life with autism, engaging both the art scholar and viewer. Adopting these mediums, he spotlights and educates others on the beauties and hardships of autism, inviting those unaware of it into his shoes so they can bring love and compassion in spaces towards those with autism and ADHD.
By bringing the two groups together, Raghani blurs the line between those with and without a developmental disability, that all deserve the same acceptance, warmth, and understanding.

Caleb exhibits his work in group exhibitions, debuting in his home town at the Tracy Grand Theater Co-Ops and the Tracy Art Leagues Expressions Show.

LANCE M.

BUSTER
Buster aka Brown is the icon for Fung Collaboratives and entered the artworld as the resident host for Lance Fung Gallery at the young age of 1/2 year old in 1996. He greeted guests at the inaugural exhibition of video artist Shigeko Kubota's work in 1996 right through to the final exhibition in 2005. Through his encouragement, founder Lance Fung decided to expand his already active curatorial practice and leave behind the commercial activity of Lance Fung Gallery to full time efforts with Fung Collaboratives.
"I was quite honored when the graphic designer Jeff Debany asked me to pose for the image of the logo for Fung Collaboratives," recalls Buster.
Buster continues to inspire all that knew him. He passed away on February 19, 2011 in Lance’s arms. He lived until the age of 15 years and two days.
