Artworks under the title of Solarium considers the Art Kiosk as is an experimental space where possibilities emerge through generative interactions of image, material, light and sound. The Art Kiosk, due to its enclosed glass structure, is seen as part greenhouse and part artwork vitrine with implications for ecological, metabolic, plaintive if not mirthful content. Early concepts for the space ranged from photosynthesis experiments to displays of glass and fabric objects and hangings laden with process-based images.
Artworks under the title of Solarium considers the Art Kiosk as is an experimental space where possibilities emerge through generative interactions of image, material, light and sound. The Art Kiosk, due to its enclosed glass structure, is seen as part greenhouse and part artwork vitrine with implications for ecological, metabolic, plaintive if not mirthful content. Early concepts for the space ranged from photosynthesis experiments to displays of glass and fabric objects and hangings laden with process-based images. Retaining an experimental attitude to the space those ideas coalesced into an illuminated and sound responsive test environment. A central orb with celestial and subatomic references, laden with programmed LED lights, engages in active conversation with sound to propagate unexpected, poetic, if not emotive interactions. The installation of these, and potentially other art elements, are experimented with on site to explore the expressive possibilities of the components.
