
Enrique Norten
Enrique Norten is the founder and principal of TEN Arquitectos in Mexico City, New York and Miami. Born in Mexico City, he graduated from the Universidad Iberoamericana in 1978 with a degree in Architecture and in 1980 he obtained a Master of Architecture from Cornell University.
In 1986 he founded TEN Arquitectos (Taller de Enrique Norten Arquitectos), beginning a commitment to the creation and research of urbanism, architecture and design.
Norten has been recognized internationally for his extensive career; Recently in 2023 he received the “Lorenzo H. Zambrano” award from CEMEX, in 2022 the “Noldi Schreck” award from Glocal Design Magazine, in 2021 the First “PPG Comex National Architecture Award”, in 2018 the “Bellas Artes Medal” from the National Institute of Fine Arts and Literature, in 2014 the “Trajectory” Award from the College of Architects of Mexico City, in 2005 the World Cultural Council awarded him the “Leonardo da Vinci” World Award, among others.
He was a professor at the University of Pennsylvania with the Miller Chair since 1998. In addition, he served as a visiting professor at foreign institutions, such as Harvard University School of Design, Columbia University School of Architecture, Parsons School of Design, Yale School of Architecture and Berkeley University of California, among others. In Mexico, he shared his knowledge at the Universidad Iberoamericana and the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México.
